The 90th anniversary of Max Reger's death in 2006 was the starting point for a series of events featuring the rarely heard music of this great composer.
In order to celebrate Reger’s music in London Jakob initiated the collaboration between the Royal College of Music, London, and the Max Reger Institute, Karlsruhe. The Max Reger Day in July 2006 was held under the auspices of both organizations and featured a lecture, two concerts and an exhibition. In the autumn of the same year this was followed by a recital with songs and solo piano works at the Gasteig in Munich. In early 2007 Jakob gave a lecture recital on Max Reger’s solo piano works in Trier.
Subsequently, Jakob played a series of lecture recitals with the clarinettist Janet Hilton on Max Reger and the Viennese School at various British conservatoires, music specialist schools and universities. Jakob is looking forward to further collaborating with Janet in giving recitals and recording Reger’s three sonatas for clarinet and piano for NAXOS.
A CD featuring some of his songs and solo piano works in collaboration with the baritone Christian Immler is in planning.
